Rainy Weather music

Have a listen to the opening song at Burberry Prorsum Spring/Summer 2013. So beautiful.

Also from Celine...minus the hurtful mink shoes.

New York Fashion Week.

New York fashion week finished this week so here are a few of what I thought were the highlights. This was definitely not my favorite Jeremy Scott collection, although the Rhianna Arabic nights vibe was interesting. Creatures of the wind was folky and pure with a color palette to live summer by. The details at Altzurra were lush and punchy...but perhaps more tassels than I'm keen for. Of course the Proenza boys put the bar very high...grommets on printed summer dresses? Brilliant. I'm a loyal Anna Sui fan and this collection makes want to incorporate serious embroideries and tartans, but dont they always? Derek Lam was cool and edgy...I'd like to get my hands on that tartan suit, but lets be honest nobody is wearing that in a Brisbane summer.

I'll be back soon with details. x

P.S who  else is keen as beans for London fash week?

Aspiration Award Presentations

Today was our presentation for our final school assignment, the 'Aspiration' awards. My look was inspired by St.Petersberg, its history and the underground world of Russian Criminals and their notorious tattoos. The look is called 'Petrograd'.
My BFF Eliza modeled for me as well as presented her own look 'Time Lapse' featured below, modeled by none other than Sammi from Chase Dakota.
I was really nervous as hell excited to present to the panel today, and it was over in a flash. Phew. One more exam and I've completed my Diploma. Oh ya!

The Graduate awards.

Wednesday night at MBFF was the Graduate awards. I was very excited for this show as I feel it is the 'freshest' most left wing of all the shows at MBFF. Of course, I was not wrong. The first collection by Anna Langdon was by far the most interesting and had the most 'Aussie pride'.....along with its enviable soundtrack which I have actually been listening to on repeat. This does not make me a boring person....I hope.
I actually brought myself to tears when i saw the the Adrian Bressanutti collection. I guess the soundtrack had something to do with that, along with the fact it is, i'm sure, from brave heart. . The clothes were so beautiful and I really loved the little flower garlands that were wrapped around each models very worn in boot. It had a very pretty virgin suicide 'good witch' vibe. I met some really lovely people and had dinner with Chase Dakota and Jonathan from The Stylish Image.

Until next time x

MBFF

Tonight was the rescheduled group show for Mercedes-Benz fashion fair. Scanlan and Theodore was by far my favorite for its vivid colours along with its amazing soundtrack. I recently had been on a tour of the Eastern Pearson studio so it was great see some of the pieces come alive on the runway.

Fashion + faux lawn

I went along with Sammi (of Chase Dakota fame) to the opening night of Mercedes-Benz fashion fair on Saturday evening. The cocktails were deliciously citrus and the faux grass saved me from that awkward heel-stuck-in-real-grass-thing. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances the night had to be postponed until tomorrow evening. Alas I think the MBFF crew have done a great job so far and I'm looking forward to seeing it all come together tomorrow night.

P.s My name is Karla. Fashion student, crazed cat lady (cat food section of Woolworths makes me clucky), hoarder, shoe obsessed (who isn't?) and charming. The Russians aren't bad either (hence my penchant for chunky faux furs)
